Oregon Programs

Oregon is known for its tall, dense forests Crater Lake and scenic coastline. Less well known are the deserts and prairies that cover the eastern half of the state. Two north-south mountain ranges – the Cascades the Pacific Coast Range form the boundaries of the fertile Willamette Valley, one of the most productive agricultural regions in the world. Oregon is the ninth largest state, covering 97,073 square miles. As of 2005, Oregon’s population was estimated at 3,641,056.

Newborn Screening

  • Newborn Screening Blood Test - Oregon newborns are screened for over 32 metabolic conditions like PKU, hemoglobin conditions like Sickle Cell Disease, and several other disorders.
  • Newborn Hearing Screening - Almost all Oregon hospitals screen newborns for hearing loss.
