On June 25, 2015, the Supreme Court ruled that federal subsidies are legal under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). In the case known as King v. Burwell, the Supreme Court accepted the argument that the ACA allows federal tax credits to be issued to people who buy health plans through the Health Insurance Marketplaces run by the federal government.
